FAQS About Dermal Fillers
Can Dermal Fillers Correct Jowling?
Fillers can be a nonsurgical solution to mild and moderate jowling. Injections of certain formulas, such as Voluma®, lift and firm skin, as well as correct the heaviness and droopiness around the jaw and chin from the natural aging process.
How Much Bruising is Normal?
Bruising can depend on where a dermal filler is applied and how many injections are necessary. Areas with delicate skin, such as under the eyes, are more likely to bruise. Mild bruising is normal anywhere, but the discoloration can be minimized with after-care tips from Dr. Parkins, such as taking an arnica montana supplement and applying ice to the area after a treatment. Patients with slightly higher blood pressure than normal may find that they bruise more easily. Avoiding any blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin and ibuprofen, for a week prior to injections can also help prevent bruising.
