Getting older is part of life, but that doesn’t mean you have to accept the lines and wrinkles that come with the natural aging process. Dr. Maida Parkins’ patients often come to them expressing concern over frown lines that are clearly visible on the forehead and between the brows, making them look older than they feel. If you can sympathize, it’s time for BOTOX® at the Milwaukee area’s Parkins Plastic Surgery.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a popular and effective way of creating a youthful facial appearance with a minimally invasive procedure and no incisions.

Do I Need BOTOX®?

Choosing the right cosmetic treatment is all about preference and goals. If you want to look younger and aren’t ready for surgical procedures, BOTOX® is a perfect choice. Not all wrinkles are created equally, however.
While some facial lines can be attributed to loss of skin firmness resulting from age, others are the result of frequent expressions, such as frowning and laughing. These often create lines around the mouth, crow’s feet by the eyes, lines on the forehead, and 11s: the parallel lines between the brows.
BOTOX® is the best choice for these expression lines, as it targets the underlying muscles, causing them to relax and soften. As such, BOTOX® and injections that produce a similar effect are referred to as neuromodulators.
Every facial expression starts as a signal in the brain, which travels to the appropriate muscle and triggers a contraction that, for example, raises an eyebrow or lowers a corner of the mouth. BOTOX® “interrupts” this process by preventing the message from arriving at the targeted muscle. This reduces facial activity, resulting in a smoother, more youthful appearance.
In some cases, a combination of BOTOX® and dermal fillers is the best choice for comprehensively addressing signs of facial aging. This is because neuromodulators treat specific lines known as “dynamic wrinkles,” while fillers smooth out lines known as “static wrinkles.” Fillers are also ideal for filling in hollows that develop due to age-related fat and collagen loss in the mid-face, temples, and elsewhere on the face.

The Many Benefits of BOTOX® Injections

There’s a reason BOTOX® has become and maintained its status as one of the most popular nonsurgical cosmetic injections for anti-aging: It is effective and dependable. When provided by our skilled injector,  Dr. Maida Parkins’ patients can benefit from the additional and far-reaching benefits of this treatment, which include smooth and youthful skin, reduction of mild to moderate lines and wrinkles in many areas of the face, a naturally restored appearance, short treatment times, and no downtime. In some patients, BOTOX® minimizes migraine headaches, bruxism (jaw grinding), and excess sweating, depending on where injected.

BOTOX® Treatments in the Milwaukee and Madison Area

Your initial consultation helps Dr. Parkins understand your goals and determine the best way to smooth facial wrinkles. During the treatment session, they will take a conservative approach to ensure your results look natural. If necessary, touch-ups can be provided, but our objective is to avoid the over-treated look that many patients are fearful of when seeking BOTOX® injections. Your satisfaction is important to us, which is why Dr. Parkins and our entire staff take every possible measure to provide the most fitting treatment for your needs.

After treatment, results develop and mature a few weeks after application. You will notice smoother skin after three to four days and will enjoy full results after about 10 days. Touch-ups are recommended every four months to maintain ideal results.

Dysport® Treatments at Parkins Plastic Surgery

Price Starts At

New Patients - $4/unit

Established Patients – $4.80/unit

Banked dysport - $4/unit

Minimum $1,200 Purchase Required

Final Total Varies Based on Treatment

In addition to BOTOX®, Parkins Plastic Surgery also offers Dysport® (abobotulinumtoxinA) to help reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Compared to BOTOX®, Dysport® is less concentrated when reconstituted and spreads quickly, making it great for larger surface areas like the forehead. Since it is less concentrated, it requires more units per area, but the price/unit costs less than BOTOX®, resulting in comparable final costs based on your treatment. The results from Dysport® are more likely to appear faster than BOTOX® and the results for Dysport® can last up to four months. Dysport® treatments at Parkins Plastic Surgery in the Madison and Milwaukee area are a great option for women and men looking to smooth fine lines and wrinkles.

Frequently Asked Questions About BOTOX®
and Dysport® Treatments

Will Injections Make My Face Look Frozen?

This is a common misconception with BOTOX®: that you won’t be able to move your facial muscles at all and will look comically over-treated. However, this “BOTOX® forehead” problem is completely avoidable when you receive treatment from an experienced professional. Dr. Parkins treats their patients as friends and takes care to ensure they love their results. If you decide you would like additional injections, these can always be provided. By taking it slow and following a conservative treatment plan, our team can help you look naturally and beautifully rejuvenated.

Do Injections Cause Bruising?

The majority of the time there is no bruising after getting BOTOX® treatments. However, it is possible to develop small pinpoint bruises that are easily covered by makeup until they fade on their own. Any redness or minor swelling that occurs resolves within 10 to 15 minutes.

How Long Do Treatment and Recovery Take?

The procedure itself can be short, depending on how many areas of the face will be treated and how many units of BOTOX® will be added. For many patients, this process takes only a few minutes and requires no recovery. You will be able to return to your daily routine after your procedure.
