FAQS About Lip Injections
What At-Home Care Routine Should I Follow?
You can ice your lips to help alleviate inflammation and may want to take the rest of the day off after getting lip injections. While you will feel fine physically, you may feel self-conscious going out in public with swollen lips. Patients can also take arnica supplements to help reduce swelling and bruising. Lip injections are associated with very little downtime and minimal after care.
Can BOTOX® Be Used to Fill Lips?
Neuromodulators affect the muscles in order to smooth facial lines, so they do not create a filling effect and are not used to boost lip volume. If you are concerned about fine lines around the mouth, BOTOX® can be injected to help smooth the lines, and filler can be added to further provide smoothing. By combining the two treatments for fine lines, the filler lasts longer and the overall result is optimized.
How Long Can I Expect Lip Injection Results to Last?
Your lip augmentation results will be impacted by your unique biology and how much filler is used to create your desired appearance. In general, most lip fillers last between six to nine months or more—and some last up to a year.
Will Lip Injections Treat Downturned Corners of the Mouth?
Patients with downturned lips often choose fillers to create plumpness and a more positive expression. Note that more than one treatment may be necessary. Neuromodulators or fillers can be used in the lower face to either relax the muscle that creates a constantly downturned look or to add volume to smooth depressions around the mouth. Lip injections can then be added to enhance the cosmetic effect.
